The preparation for the last tropical storm Ernesto has given us a first occasion to use the shutters already installed. The product itself appears to be an excellent quality and easy to use. Ernesto however, has given us an opportunity to identify a number of problems related to closing the shutters and a procedure will be implemented to rectify the situation.
It is also an occasion to provide owners with an update on the installation of shutters at Waterside Village. We understand the frustration of those who are still waiting for the installation of shutters on their units, but the factors that we previously identified as responsible for the delay, still exist.
As of this date, no final inspection has been performed by the Town of Hypoluxo's inspector and this is preventing the inspection by our own consultant, Quantum Engineering of all buildings where shutters have been installed. This means that we are still withholding 10% on all these completed installations, and at the same time it is delaying us from obtaining the quality control needed.
Furthermore, the availability of materials remains a major factor. We have offered Shuttermasters, our installer, to purchase on his behalf the necessary blades, but there is just no material available, irrespective of hearsay. We remain in full control of the cost of the shutters program and have paid Shuttermaters strictly in accordance with the contract. We are committed to completing the installation of shutters on all units as soon as possible, while proceeding in the best interest of Waterside Village Association.
We thank you for your patience.
Thank you,
Your Board of Directors
