June 1 starts the official hurricane season. Owners who will be away until the season is over (November) must arrange to have all accordion shutters closed.  Owners who leave for vacations must close their shutters. Owners must inform tenants about closing shutters after leaving the unit for any length of time. If owners neglect to close shutters and the maintenance crew has to do the closing, there is a possibility that owners will be charged a fee.
